Dr. James Knott

Dr. Knott is a lifelong resident of Council Bluffs. He graduated from Abraham Lincoln High School in 1966. He received a Bachelor's Degree of Science from the University of Iowa and graduated from the University of Iowa Dental School in 1975. Dr. Knott looked at many opportunities to establish a practice and chose to return to his childhood home, where he has been practicing ever since.

Dr. Knott is a member of the American Dental Association and the Southwest Iowa Dental Association. He has taken advanced courses in laser technology at the World Clinical Laser Institute and has completed an implant fellowship at Creighton University. He has also attended the Dental Business Mastery Program in Dallas, Texas.

Dr. Knott is married to Stella, and they have three daughters, two grandsons, and a granddaughter. He enjoys bicycling, home remodeling projects, cooking, wine tasting, and computers. He is a member of the Queen of Apostles Church, the Knights of Columbus, and the American Legion Post 2 and is a Past President of the local chapter of the Rotary Club International.

Dr. Knott's Continuing Education:

Dr. Knott stays current with new technology and advanced techniques through continuing education. Although only 15 hours are required, Dr. Knott completes a minimum of 50-60 hours of continuing education annually, in such topics as:

  • Bisphosphonates: Dental care seminar to discuss procedures, problems, and protocols for treating patients who have received bisphosphonate cancer chemotherapy and/or bisphosphonates for osteoporosis, including Actenol and Fosamax.
  • Dr. Rick Wetten (Professor, University of Iowa): Discussion of partial dentures, complete dentures, and current design considerations
  • Kiess Kraft: Predictable Crown & Bridge Impressions & Simplified Temporization
